Devlog 3


Started a new development of a game, decided on a 2d side scrolling platformer in the vein of a Mario from NES/SNES days.

Accomplishments

⦁ Implemented music through all levels/Start screen and credits

⦁ Set up a high score tracker, a Start menu and credit sceen

⦁ implemented death sounds for enemies and players, implemented a death vfx for enemy

⦁ set the scenes in order

⦁ created short demo for devlog

⦁ game is fully functioning and ready ahead of upcoming feedback quest 4 game jam.

To Do List:

⦁ more levels

⦁ fix character floatiness

Upcoming

Entered into the https://itch.io/jam/feedback-quest-4 Game Jam, look forward to submitting during the first week of May, after submitting. I will take feedback and use that time to rebuild functions of the existing game before I continue expanding. I want to have 5 levels available for test play, and 3/4 enemies and a couple pick up variants (maybe some that give powers to player?). After the Jam, I want to implement a world map with branches so if you have difficulty in say level 3, you can instead play level 4 to get to level 5. I also would like to implement a mid boss level as Level * to change up the standard formula. I am thinking an enemy that needs to be bounced on 3 times to kill them.

I appreciate any and all feedback and the more assistance I receive the better the game will be. This will hopefully be just the first of multiple Jams I enter with this game, as well as I plan on regularly updating the game on itch.io after it has been posted the first time.
